
NEWApHC Year End Award Program and Rules
The Board of Directors of NEWApHC shall act as the Year End Awards Committee. The Duties of the committee include:
1. Selection of the areas of competition that will be eligible for year end awards during the current year.
2. Selection of a point chairman to record and publish points gained by eligible exhibitors and/or eligible horses in their respective areas of competition.
3. Selection and approval of shows that will provide the necessary competition required for gaining points.
4. Provide year end awards for each area of competition that is eligible during the current year.
5. Serve as the final arbitrator in any and all disputes according to Section II-G 3 of NEWApHC by-laws.
All Divisions
Only members of NEWApHC are eligible to participate in the Year End Awards Program. Membership must be obtained prior to the show you wish to count for points. You must nominate yourself for those categories in which you wish to compete, and nomination fees must be paid prior to the first show to count for points.
You must exhibit at a NEWApHC sponsored show to be eligible to participate in the Year End Awards Program.
Ages of all exhibitors will be as of January 1st of the current year.
To be eligible to participate in the NEWApHC Year End Awards Program, all horses must be registered within the rules of the Appaloosa Horse Club, Inc., Moscow, Idaho. For the horse to be shown in competition for year end awards, all owners must be members of NEWApHC. If a horse is sold during the show season, the points remain with the horse provided the new owners become members at the time of sale. Also required is a copy (front and back) of the horses registration papers.
Eligibility is gained by membership and maintained through sportsmanship. The Year End Awards Committee is empowered to investigate any and all acts of unsportsmanlike conduct and take whatever degree of disciplinary action deemed necessary, which may include the loss of eligibility to participate in the Year End Awards Program. Committee action is subject to the rules as defined in Section II-G 3 of the NEWApHC by-laws. Any grievances or protests must be submitted in writing, giving the conditions, reasons, and show bill. This must be submitted to the point keeper no more than 14 days from the last approved show season.
To be eligible for a NEWApHC year end award, at least 1 point must be gained in the area of approved show competition.
The best 12 shows will count toward the year end award. In case of a tie, the tie will be broken by the number of competitors beaten. For remaining ties, duplicate awards will be given.
Youth and Non-Pro Division
A nomination fee of $2.50 for each youth and $5.00 for each Non-Pro category must be paid to NEWApHC. No youth points will be gained by showing a stallion. An unaltered colt, 1 year or older, is considered a stallion.
Halter and Performance Division
A nomination fee of $5.00 per horse per category must be paid to NEWApHC.
Open Show Division
Only Halter, Showmanship, English Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Speed, and Endurance (total number of miles accumulated) will count. Points accumulated from March 1st through September 30th shall be counted. Points will be used from the best class of the show for the category nominated. e. i. If you show in three halter classes, points will be used from the class in which you did best A nomination fee of $5.00 per horse per category must be paid to NEWApHC. A completed Open Show Point Sheet signed by the show secretary and a copy of the show bill must be sent to the point keeper for points to count.
Point System
Points shall be awarded for the placings as follows:
1st place = 6pts., 2nd place=5pts., 3rd place=4pts., 4th place=3pts., 5th place=2pts., 6th place=1pt.
A horse will gain 2 extra points for placing as Grand Champion as halter in an approved show. One extra point will be awarded to a halter horse placing Reserve Champion. In the event that there are less than six entries in any class, points gained shall start with the total number of entries (i.e., 5 entries - points will be 5,4,3,2,1).

High Point Junior Halter Gelding + A traveling trophy will be presented to the Junior Gelding (3 years and under) who accumulates the most points in his halter class for the year. |

Brian Oetjen Memorial Mare Power Trophy + A traveling trophy presented to the Junior Halter Mare (3 years and under) with the most total points at the end of the year. |
