Year-End Award Program & Nomination Form
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Only members of NEWApHC are eligible to participate in the Open Show Year-End Awards Program. Membership must be obtained prior to the show you wish to submit for points.
2. You must nominate yourself for those categories in which you wish to compete, and nomination fees must be paid prior to the first show to count for points.
3. Ages of all exhibitors will be as of January 1st of the current year.
4. To be eligible to participate in the NEWApHC Year End Awards Program, all horses must be registered within the rules of the Appaloosa Horse Club, Inc., Moscow, Idaho. For the horse to be shown in competition for Open Show Year End Awards, all owners must be members of NEWApHC. If a horse is sold during the show season, the points remain with the horse provided the new owners become members at the time of sale. Also required is a copy (front and back) of the horses registration papers.
5. Eligibility is gained by membership and maintained through sportsmanship. The Year End Awards Committee is empowered to investigate any and all acts of unsportsmanlike conduct and take whatever degree of disciplinary action deemed necessary, which may include the loss of eligibility to participate in the Open Show Year End Awards Program. Committee action is subject to the rules as defined in Section II-G 3 of the NEWApHC by-laws. Any grievances or protests must be submitted in writing, giving the conditions, reasons and show bill. This must be submitted to the point keeper no more than 14 days from the last approved show season.
6. To be eligible to receive a NEWApHC Year End Award, at least 1 point must be gained in the area of open show competition.
7. The best 12 shows will count toward the Open Show Year-End Award. In case of a tie, the tie will be broken by the number of competitors beaten. For remaining ties, duplicate awards will be given.
NOMINATING DIVISIONS
1. The following divisions will be offered by NEWApHC for open show competitions: Halter Geldings, Halter Mares, Halter Stallions, Western Pleasure/Equitation, English Pleasure/Equitation, Showmanship, Speed, and Endurance (total number of miles accumulated).
2. Points accumulated from March 1st through September 30th shall be counted.
3. Points will be used from the best class of the show for the category nominated, i.e., if you show in three halter classes, points will be used from the class in which you did best.
4. A completed Open Show Point Sheet signed by the show secretary and a copy of the show bill must be sent to the point keeper AND must be postmarked no later than 14 days after the date of show for points to count.
5. A nomination fee of $5.00 per horse per division must be paid to NEWApHC.
EARNING POINTS
Points shall be awarded as
follows:1st place = 6pts; 2nd place = 5 pts; 3rd place = 4pts; 4th place = 3pts;
5th place = 2pts; 6th place = 1pt
A horse will gain 2 extra
points for placing as Grand Champion in halter and 1 extra point for placing
Reserve Champion in halter. In the event that there are less than six entries
in any class, points gained shall start with the total number of entries, i.e.,
4 entries points would be 4 3 2 1. Endurance
riding will be based upon the total number of miles accumulated.
